NSMLA regulates Nigeria's scrap metal sector to drive economic growth, protect public infrastructure, ensure environmental compliance, and strengthen national security across all 36 states and the FCT.
The Nigerian Scrap Metal Licensing Authority (NSMLA) is a federal regulatory body established to oversee the collection, processing, and trading of scrap metal nationwide. Our mandate balances three priorities: securing public and critical infrastructure against vandalism and theft, safeguarding public health and the environment in line with international standards, and formalising a sector that supports the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Nigerians.
